About RIMC Entrance Examination

RIMC conducts its entrance exam twice every year to select students for Class 8th admission. It is meant for students who want to join the defence services in the future.

  • Eligibility: Boys aged between 11½ and 13 years as on 1st January or 1st July of the term they are applying for.

  • Application: Forms are available at www.rimc.gov.in or can be collected directly from the RIMC campus.


RIMC Entrance Exam Syllabus

The entrance exam includes questions from:

  • Mathematics

  • English

  • General Knowledge

To pass, students must score at least 50% in each subject. If a student fails to score 50% in even one subject, he will be disqualified.


Interview (Viva Voce)

After qualifying the written exam, students are called for an interview (50 marks). The interview checks the student’s personality, confidence, and general awareness.


Medical Examination

Only students who clear both the written exam and the interview are called for a medical test, which is held at a selected military hospital. Only medically fit students are given admission to RIMC.

Know Your Eligibility

Eligibility Criteria

1. Age Limit:

  • For Class 6: The candidate must be between 10 and 12 years old as of 31st March of the year of admission.

  • For Class 9: The candidate must be between 13 and 15 years old as of 31st March of the year of admission.

2. Educational Qualification:

  • For Class 6: The candidate should be studying in Class 5 or have passed Class 5 at the time of admission.

  • For Class 9: The candidate should be studying in Class 8 or have passed Class 8 at the time of admission.

3. Nationality: The candidate must be an Indian citizen.

4. Medical Fitness: The candidate must meet the medical standards set by the Sainik School authorities. A medical examination will be conducted as part of the admission process.

5. Gender: Sainik Schools generally admit boys, but some schools may offer limited admissions to girls, especially in higher classes. It varies from school to school.

These criteria may vary slightly depending on the specific Sainik School, so it is advisable to check the guidelines of the respective school for any updates or additional requirements.
